The Collaborative Monitoring Initiative (CMI) is implementing a coordinated program that supports regional water monitoring champions and tests the viability of a province wide approach for collaborative water monitoring in BC.

About CMI

We are dedicated to building collaborations and capabilities among Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities to increase their influence on watershed related planning and decision making through providing crucial monitoring information.

If you are interested or involved in community-based water monitoring (CBM), then CMI is here to boost your capabilities through providing curated information about all aspects of CBM work and building collaborative connections among communities and senior governments.

By helping to build this kind of collective participation and support, the chances of success in promoting and sustaining watershed health across BC will be greatly increased.

Check out this video to see how community-based water monitoring can lead to better watershed health outcomes. This video was created in collaboration with Living Lakes Canada.
