Government of Canada Open Data Portal

The Federal government’s Open Data Portal provides transparency and accountability, and fosters citizen engagement. Data can be accessed through the open data inventory. The Portal has a search function to find data sets of various kinds of freshwater monitoring. Open Maps provides access to the Government of Canada’s geospatial information. For instance, a search for “water quality networks” will turn up a map which shows the locations of water quality network stations operated by the federal government and a number of provincial governments including BC. Datasets for particular locations can also be found. You can combine, visualize, and analyze geospatial data and collaborate with other Canadians. This platform is a work in progress and will expand and improve over the coming months.
